Saranac Lake Union Depot - Delaware & Hudson RR - 1904
Photo from Detroit Publishing Co. Collection - Library of Congress
In 2004 the historic Saranac Lake Union Depot, which was built by the Delaware & Hudson Railroad, celebrated its 100th year as a landmark in my home village in the Adirondack mountains of New York State. I was so inspired by this restored architectural gem, that I had to go out and take photos and a make few on site key measurements for relative scale calculations to try to reproduce some architectural elevation drawings depicting how it appeared as built in 1904 and how it appears today. Can you spot the architectural elements which have been eliminated over the passing of 100 years!
